Computing power is a key production factor for converting data value

As a key production factor in the digital economy era, computing power has become the core support and driving force for mining the value of data elements and promoting the development of the digital economy. With massive computing power as the foundation, the value of data can be more adequately mined and utilized. Computing power, data, and algorithms are inseparable and indispensable. In the process of digital industrialization, data is the core raw material, but a lot of data islands still exist in various industries. A series of issues such as realizing data connection between different regions, effectively defining data assets, and protecting data privacy and ownership are the key points in the current development of computing power.


Computing power is the key link in the implementation of application scenarios

In application scenarios, the chain from computing power to terminal demand is very long, including computing power hardware, computing power scheduling management software, capability platform software, and scenario solution services. The key links in the chain are correlated with each other and the absence of any link will affect the final application effect of computing power. Computing power itself is a key link in the industry chain. In the face of changes in scenario and industry requirements, it is necessary to maintain a balance between general computing power and special computing power. Although the total scale of national computing power has reached 140 EFLOPS, it contains different types of computing power and actually serves different functional requirements, which requires us to make corresponding technical decisions in combination with local industrial characteristics.


Diversified algorithm scenario requirements are as important as computing power

Yang Fan pointed out that it is necessary to consider the long-tail demand of computing power in diversified scenarios. Computing power is the most basic link of a scenario solution, but a clear understanding of scenario requirements, the design of demand solutions, and the quality of platform capability software are also important. Scenario requirements define solutions, solutions define platform capabilities, and platform capabilities define computing power requirements. Therefore, before building computing power, we should meet specific scenario requirements first and plan the construction of each link as a whole, so as to avoid the potential risk that computing power can be established but not used.


Computing power has become an important indicator of comprehensive national strength and competitiveness

The global innovation map is being restructured, and the computing power competition has entered a fierce stage. China and the United States occupy a leading position in the field of computing power. The increase in China's computing power is the largest in the world, reaching 13.5%, showing the powerful computing power of China. In the digital era, computing power has gradually become an important indicator of comprehensive national strength and the core productive force of a new round of technological and industrial revolution. There is no doubt that computing power is the underlying logic of the digital economy, which not only determines the strength and development potential of a country, but also determines the country's voice and leadership in the future scientific and technological industry. At the same time, behind the computing power competition is a deeper commercial competition. Cloud computing providers, network operators, communication equipment manufacturers, and enterprises in all walks of life with digital transformation needs over the world will participate in the digital transformation. Under such circumstances, China's industrial economy will have bright prospects in the “computing power war” in the future.
